Dear Eastside Prep Community:

As we reflect on the academic year 2023-2024, we are filled with gratitude for the journey we embarked on together. The year marked our first full year working together as Board President and Head of School, and it has been a privilege for us to work on behalf of our students alongside such dedicated faculty, staff, Trustees, and families.

Underlying our efforts this year was a commitment to align our vision and goals for the future. Along with the full Board of Trustees, we worked diligently to craft a Strategic Priorities Plan, which created a roadmap to guide our institution toward continued improvement. This plan, developed collaboratively with input from various stakeholders, outlines key initiatives aimed at advancing academic programs, fostering belonging, creating community partnerships, and promoting student well-being. The finalized plan was published last fall, and the 2023-2024 school year saw the first inroads into the goals outlined in that plan.

While we look to the future, we also understand the importance of where we have been and who we are as a community. Central to our success is our culture of partnership and growth. Throughout the year, we have remained committed to nurturing a community where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to adapt to the evolving needs of our students and the ever-changing landscape of education shaped by artificial intelligence. We continue to strive to cultivate an environment where curiosity is celebrated, resilience is fostered, and potential is realized.

Throughout the year, our endeavors have been guided by our shared vision to inspire students to create a better world. With the dedication of our entire community, we are confident that Eastside Prep will continue to inspire and empower generations of learners for years to come.

Thank you for your support and commitment to our shared mission and vision.

Kind regards,

Sam Uzwack,

A strong fundraising effort is an indicator of something larger—a dedicated and engaged community. Once again, the Eastside Prep community signaled its investment in our school, students, faculty/staff, and the unique educational opportunities available here.  Ninety-six percent of our current parents/guardians contributed to the Annual Fund campaign while 100% of faculty/staff and Trustees supported the effort.

Better World Endowment

Eastside Prep celebrated the school’s twentieth anniversary by launching its first endowment effort—The Better World endowment. Over $7,000,000 was raised to support two important funds: The Macaluso Fund for Faculty and Staff Professional Development and The Fund for Student Support.

The Better World Endowment

An endowment is considered an indicator of a school’s financial health. The Better World Endowment founded in spring of 2023 will ensure Eastside Prep’s financial health for years to come.  Thank you to the generous current parents/guardians, alumni parents/guardians, alumni, Trustees, and employees who supported this important effort during its inaugural year.

Endowment funds are managed at the direction of the Board of Trustees and all funds are currently invested responsibly. There is a cap on the total spending of endowment funds, although no endowment funds are being spent at this time.

Named Endowment Funds

In addition to the generous donations to the Macaluso Fund for Faculty and Staff Professional Development and the Fund for Student Support, some generous families created named funds to benefit one (or both) efforts.
