John Kaminsky
Mathematics
B.A. Math/History, State University of New York, Cortland; PhD Mathematics, M.A. Mathematics, University of California, Santa Barbara
John began his undergraduate studies at SUNY Cortland as a History/Adolescent Education double major with the expressed goal of becoming a history teacher. Halfway through, and having already completed the history requirements, John rediscovered his love for mathematics. He pursued that goal into a PhD program, still with the expressed goal of teaching, albeit now at the collegiate level. It was during his PhD studies that John was first able to teach as an assistant and later as a lecturer. After the experience of teaching large lectures, John sought a transition to Upper School teaching to expand his ability to interact with students.
When not in the classroom, John enjoys watching movies and playing games, whether that takes the form of board games, trivia contests, or video games.
