Elin has been teaching at Eastside Prep since 2007. She taught Spanish for the first five years and now teaches Scientific Thinking along with being the school librarian. In addition to her regular duties at EPS, Elin enjoys the science field trips she takes with the fifth graders and the school’s environmental/outdoor education excursions. She also likes connecting with her students and colleagues, and being involved in the daily life of the strong EPS community. When not teaching or working in the EPS Library, you can find Elin on the Ultimate and soccer fields coaching the 5th/6th-grade Eastside Prep girls’ teams.
“I appreciate the opportunities I have had to work with students in a great variety of settings: in the science lab, in the Spanish room, on the Ultimate field, in the EPS Library, in the woods, on the beach by a lake, around a campfire, on a sailboat in the San Juan Islands, in the temples of Sri Lanka, while snorkeling with sea lions off the Galápagos Islands, on Crystal Mountain while snowboarding fresh powder, in the cloud forests and tide-pools of Costa Rica, and while participating in community service in Puerto Rico. Because of these amazing opportunities I have gotten to know the kids not only as pupils in a classroom, but as whole people.”
