Join us as we explore the Seattle area on foot, in the woods, in the kitchen, on the water, and more.  Throughout the week, we will galivant throughout the Pacific Northwest in and around Vashon Island, Cle Elum and downtown Seattle.  Each day of the week, we will have a unique experience to include kayaking or canoeing around Vashon Island, volunteering near EPS, hiking and camping in the Cascades, and savoring smells and eats at the Hot Stove Society.  Students will expand their cooking skills, deepen yoga abilities, build campfires, enjoy numerous meals from scratch and take in an afternoon of shopping.   The group will stay overnight on Thursday in Cle Elum with an early rise on Friday for yoga and a bakery stop.  This adventure has your name on it…, join in for a rich local experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kick off EBC week with a uber local day. The group will take the metro downtown, where we will immerse into a cooking class followed by lunch and time to connect with chefs at the Hot Stove Society. Once we have filled ourselves with deliciousness, we will walk off some calories and head down to The Wheel for an easy afternoon in and around Pike Place Market.
Day 2: Today it will be all about the outdoors. We head to Vashon Island for a guided tour in kayaks around the island. We will learn about the Island’s history, geography, wildlife refuges and more. Once we wrap up our time on the water, we will enjoy a late lunch and shopping in the central business district. Photos of our time on the water and our local exploration are required!
Day 3: We’ve reached mid-week and will shift gears toward a focus on giving back in our community. Our day of service will include designing and preparing a full dinner for 20 teens in the EPS kitchen and delivered to Teen Feed, preparation of 100 hygiene packs, serving at the front lines of Northwest Harvest’s Sodo market, a special project at Friends of Youth at their new day shelter, serving a meal on location with Operation Sack Lunch. If you would like help with design or be more involved with the day of service, please let us know.
Days 4 and 5: To round out an awesome EBC Week, our group will head into the North Cascades where will hike, explore, create a dinner from scratch over the campfire and enjoy the night sky near Cle Elum.  Our group will stay overnight and students will be encouraged to settle into the outdoors by turning off phones and connecting with nature.  We will wake up early on Friday and head into town for yoga, hot fusion style.  To wrap up our experience, we will stop for yummy treats at the Cle Elum Bakery and then head back to campus.
