Insight: Shared Perspectives

By Sam Uzwack, Head of School

At Eastside Prep, our commitment to continual improvement and collaboration drives everything we do. This year, we’re taking a focused approach to gather community input through a series of Listening Groups and community surveys. These discussions align with our Strategic Priorities and are designed to bring families, employees, and students into important conversations about the future of our school.

The community feedback will center on four key topics:

  1. Grading & Assessment
We’re reflecting on how our grading practices align with Eastside Prep’s mission and how they impact students’ well-being. These conversations will provide insight into families’ perspectives on how we evaluate learning and support growth.
  2. Junior and Senior Program
The Upper School years are transformative. We want to hear from parents and guardians about their priorities for these years and their openness to different approaches that prepare students for what lies ahead.
  3. Belonging and EICL (Equity, Inclusion, and Compassionate Leadership)
Belonging is a cornerstone of the EPS experience. We’re eager to gather input from families about how we can continue to foster an inclusive and welcoming community for all.
  4. Artificial Intelligence in Education
As AI becomes increasingly prevalent, we’re continuing our exploration in its role in Education. Part of that process is collecting insights from our community as to how it is showing up in your domains or industries. Presuming that AI continues to grow in capability, what aspects of the EPS experience will become more important, and which ones will need to evolve? What do our students need to know to be able to navigate both their use of AI and their experience of a world increasingly infused with AI? These listening group sessions help us understand the collective wisdom and collective concerns around this complex topic.

Listening groups and survey feedback offer a meaningful way for families to share their insights and help shape EPS’s future. Sessions are scheduled with flexibility in mind, and parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in the topics that resonate with them.

Your voice matters—join us as we work together to ensure EPS remains a community of empathy, curiosity, and growth. Specific opportunities will be communicated in future Friday emails.
