INSIGHT: Welcoming the New Trimester
By Sam Uzwack, Associate Head of School for Middle School & Student Support Services
What a joy to be back in school after a much-deserved break. The heart of EPS is our community, and this week was another testament to the strength of our bonds. Our 5th & 6th graders and faculty stepped up to the challenges of being remote once again. Our 7th-12th graders helped make our pool testing process seamless. All of this is in service of keeping our community safe, to give us the very best chance of remaining in person, experiencing not only all that the EPS program has to offer, but one another’s camaraderie as well.
We also owe our families a debt of gratitude, for you are certainly doing your part as well. All of our student testing (as well as the full faculty/staff) was negative. We will be solidifying plans for COVID testing and other safety protocols when we return from Winter Break within the next couple of weeks.
Speaking of the next couple of weeks, they are going to fly by. The holiday season is in full swing, and there is a lot going on…first basketball games, US play theatre auditions, robotics competitions, you name it. Amidst all of the excitement of the season and a new term, it is also a chance for students to build a solid foundation on which to return after the New Year. This intense three-week period allows for students to put into practice what they learned from the first trimester—this is why we have trimesters, after all!
Soon, the days will stop growing darker, and the light will start to return. May light shine on you and your family during this holiday season and thank you for contributing to the bright light that is EPS.
