Re-Accreditation Process
By Dr. Terry Macaluso, Head of School
We need to close the loop on our re-accreditation process. Most of you will remember that 2017- 2018 was the year for building TALI and for completing our self-study in preparation for the NWAIS visiting team. That team spent three days on our campus in October 2018. We had just opened TALI when we welcomed our guests, ten representatives from other NWAIS schools in the region. The most valuable part of the re-accreditation process is the self-study itself. It requires us to look—deeply—into all dimensions of the school’s operations, programs, faculty, and staff.
Several parents in the community—and all faculty and staff—played a role in producing the self-study report, which is then distributed to the visiting team members as they prepare for their visit. Topic areas considered include Governance, Administration, Commitment to Care, Health and Safety, Facilities, Finances, and more. No stone is left unturned.
A few weeks ago we received notice that our accreditation has indeed been renewed. We received remarkably valuable information, but at its heart, the report tells us something we already knew—this is a kind, welcoming, supportive community.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this process; your commitment to EPS is what shines through in the visiting team’s report. Beginning with the spring issue of Inspire, you will begin to hear more about the process and the results. Stay tuned…
