Allison Luhrs
English, College Counselor
M.S.Ed., Reading, Writing, and Literacy, University of Pennsylvania; B.A., English and Child Development, Tufts University;
Allison has been at EPS since 2007. She is a Kirkland native who came to her career in teaching by way of the East Coast publishing industry; she used to edit and market children’s books, until she realized students and teachers are way more fun than publishers. Allison now loves helping students identify their storytelling strengths in the classroom and as they apply to college. When she’s not immersed in a book herself, Allison can usually be found tending her garden, cooking, jogging through the woods, or hanging out with her family.
“We have built a school that encourages innovative and critical thinking not only in our students, but in the faculty and administration as well. If we want to help students become responsible citizens, we know we have to model that behavior and give our students the freedom to succeed, knowing we trust them to make good decisions, just as we trust one another.”
